Manhattan’s Chinatown, nestled in the heart of New York City, has flourished since the mid-19th century as a home for Chinese immigrants. Over generations, this vibrant urban district has grown into the largest Chinese community in the United States—a place where tradition and resilience intertwine. More than just a neighborhood, Chinatown is a living tapestry of stories, a sanctuary of culture, and a home filled with warmth, unity, and enduring heritage.

The book brings these stories to life as a unique pop-up book dedicated to Manhattan’s Chinatown. Centered on the Lunar New Year, this book combines exquisite paper engineering with detailed illustrations to vividly recreate Chinatown’s iconic landmarks and festive scenes.

*About the Creators:
This next version of book will be created by Starry House, a team of three young designers who call Manhattan’s Chinatown their home. The youngest of them, born in 2002, shared:
“Chinatown is a small corner of warmth in a foreign land for us. We hope this book serves as a bridge, connecting Chinatown’s stories, culture, and history with the world.”
